Camp Hurontario
Camp Hurontario was established in 1947 for boys aged 5-16. Situated on a spectacular island on the Georgian Bay, Camp Hurontario offers a truly remote setting for its campers to experience the wonders of the outdoors. We’ve been building lasting friendships, self-confidence and strong people skills in a unique and non-competitive atmosphere for over 75 summers!
Aside from offering a huge range of water sports and land activities, Camp Hurontario specialises in canoe tripping. We offer trips for all ages, from overnight trips for our junior campers, to 20-day white-water adventures up to James Bay, to Labrador, and up into the Arctic.
We also provide our campers with the opportunity to participate in our leadership training program when they reach their mid-teens. Leaders-in-training begin organising and leading camp activities, and challenge themselves on one of our longer white-water canoe trips. If successful, LITs will be able to work as counsellors at the camp in the future. Unlike many other camps, we hire our counsellors exclusively through this tailor-made leadership training program.
