OCA Events General Information

The Ontario Camps Association supports a community of more than 1200 camp and outdoor education industry professionals. In addition to the support from our Standards program in running camps and outdoor education programs at the highest level, OCA supports our Members and members of the community with professional development and other events!

OCA [Re]Connects 2023: Thursday, March 30 and Friday March 31, 2023
Living Arts Centre, Mississauga, Ontario

Our annual conference is returning to an in-person format in 2023! Our two-day conference is your opportunity to learn and reconnect with camp industry peers in an education-packed 2 day event! Topics include:

  • Trending Topics: responsive to regulatory, new societal concerns, emerging issues
  • The Camper: mental health, special needs, health concerns, healthy child development
  • Support: Topics for administrative and maintenance staff
  • Camp Director ABCs: staff, program, marketing, OCA Standards 101, and creating own leadership style
  • The Business of Camp: HR management, finances policies, key indicators
  • Program: camp programs, activities, innovations, and hands-on presentations
  • Outdoor Education: current issues and challenges
  • Staff Engagement: recruitment, recognition, training/pre-camp
  • Equity and Diversity: creating spaces that welcome diversity
  • Industry Sustainability: non-profits – strategies, grant writing, funding
  • Mental Health: for campers, staff, camp professionals
