Job Goal / Summary: 

As a Cedar Ridge Staff member, your primary concern is the physical and mental health and wellbeing of campers. Specifically, the Woodworking Instructor is responsible for safely teaching beginner to intermediate woodworking skills during daily program sessions. The Woodworking Instructor will be responsible for working with staff and LIT’s (Leaders in Training) to ensure the safety of all participants, and the quality of all woodworking programs. This includes regular program instruction as well as any special programs or periods involving woodworking. Cedar Ridge uses hand tools such as chisels, spoke shaves, draw knives, and sanders, plus power tools such as drills, power sanders, a scroll saw, etc… The proper, safe use of tools is required.

Candidates should have the following qualifications or certificates, or be willing to obtain them before the start of camp:   

  • Experience woodworking/instructing woodworking
  • Standard or Emergency First aid
  • Bronze Cross or higher swim/lifeguarding certification (encouraged for all staff)

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in mandatory training during pre-camp (June 23-28)
  • Daily woodworking instruction
  • Creative program design
  • Equipment care and maintenance
  • Uphold health and safety standards
  • Daily upkeep of the woodworking program area
  • Taking on the general responsibilities of a Cedar Ridge Staff Member

  • Able to safely operate power tools
  • Able to safely operate hand tools
  • Able to be active for long periods of time
