Whitewater Canoe Leader


Located on Lake Temagami, Camp Wanapitei’s mission is to inspire, through the wilderness canoe trip, a sense of adventure, self-awareness, confidence, compassion, and deep connection to the natural world.        

We are seeking experienced whitewater canoe trip leaders for the upcoming summer season.  Trips will range in length from 10-20 days and include routes on the Dumoine, Noire, and Coulonge rivers. Responsibilities include pre-trip route planning, packing all food and equipment, completing detailed trip itineraries, managing the safety of all campers while on trip, teaching paddling and camp craft skills, and participating in in-camp programming.  Trip Leaders also serve as camp counsellors for their group in camp and on trip.


Bronze Cross 

Wilderness First Responder

Whitewater Rescue Technician II (or equivalent)

2+ years of guiding experience 

Whitewater paddling experience 

Must be at least 20 years of age

Preference will be given to student applicants

Criminal Record check required.

Salary: Starting at $2,950, based on experience. Travel allowance and reimbursement program for certifications also offered.

*Note: Staff are expected to live on site for the summer.  Room and board are provided
