Job Title: Waterfront Director

Reports To: Camp Director & Assistant Director

The Waterfront Director will oversee all aspects of our waterfront programming, safety, and emergency response preparedness. The Waterfront Director plays an integral role in our camp’s Leadership Team. 

 General Responsibilities:

~ Ensuring the general safety of campers and staff at the waterfront.

~ Supervising the waterfront staff and ensuring that programming is run in a safe, fun, and responsible manner.

~ Managing any waterfront emergencies.

~ Lifeguarding duties

~ Assisting with program needs.

~ Perform all other duties and roles assigned by the Director or Assistant Director.

Specific Responsibilities:

~ Lead the organizing and setting up of the Waterfront.

~ Attend daily LeadershipTeam meetings as scheduled.

~ Be on call and prepared to assume a lead role in crisis management/emergency response.

~ Ensure that all policies and procedures for the waterfront are strictly adhered to by all campers and staff.

~ Train staff how to safely supervise waterfront activities. Lead practical drills to ensure all staff knows safety protocols and can act with speed and effectiveness in emergency situations.

~ Manage rotational lifeguard schedule and waterfront specialty staff schedule.

~ Conduct an evaluation of campers’ swimming ability, and to ensure that campers who are not strong swimmers wear PFDs during free swim.

~ Set, and clearly explain to each new group of campers, all waterfront rules and procedures. 

~ Plan and lead alternate activities when necessary (rain days, Colour War days…).

~ Conduct daily checks of facilities, equipment, and first aid supplies and report any issues to the Director.

~ Ensure that the waterfront area is kept tidy and safe and that all equipment is properly stored and cared for.

~ Participate in camp-wide special events. 

Required Qualifications:

Current National Lifeguard Qualification (NLS). (NL waterfront would be an asset.)

Current CPR-C and First Aid certification 

Current Certified Pleasure Craft Operator

Vulnerable Sector Background Check

Employment Period:

One week of Staff Training (June 26, 2021 – July 3, 2021) & 8 weeks of Camp (July 4, 2021 – August 28, 2021)
