Camp Ooch & Camp Trillium (merged in 2020) offers a different journey, where kids with cancer can just be kids, and families connect with a community of strength and support when they need it the most.

So much more than a summer camp—we offer the social cure for childhood cancer. Our camp-inspired programs deliver fun, friendship, and community to children and families at no cost to them year-round, all across Ontario.

Summer 2021 – OVERNIGHT CAMP
Maintenance Staff
(contract June to end of August)

While 2020 was full of unexpected challenges, our new organization moved forward, inspired by our vision of reaching every child and family affected by childhood cancer across Ontario. We are developing plans to deliver modified in-person overnight camp programs this summer at Camp Trillium Rainbow Lake and Ooch Muskoka, leveraging pandemic protocols including social distancing, use of PPE, and plenty of time outdoors. We’re getting ready for a life-changing summer of adventure, fun, and safety!

In order to be a successful part of our outstanding all-summer staff, you’ll be passionate about playing a key role in maintaining a safe, efficient operation and appearance of our site; with the wellbeing of our campers, volunteers, staff and visitors our primary objective.

Our Maintenance Staff will work with the Facilities Manager to support in the maintaining the grounds and facilities, keeping them in good care and safe.

Maintenance staff support the rest of the Operations team to maintain and protect the the overall operation and appearance of the site. They perform maintenance and grounds-keeping duties to ensure a functional, healthy and attractive environment. They help to ensure tools, vehicles and equipment are maintained and the organizing of the Maintenance shop and storage areas. Identifying and making repairs, performing building and site maintenance tasks as required. They support housekeepers as needed and assist the full staff team with a full-camp clean and sanitize during session changeovers.

Skills & Qualifications:
Our Maintenance Staff must have:
a) Ability to work with a team and independently
b) Ability to exercise good judgement in setting and carrying out daily tasks.
c) Open to receiving feedback.
d) Comfortable performing physically demanding tasks.
e) Good understanding of building, electrical, plumbing and septic systems
f) Aptitude for operating camp tools, vehicles and equipment
g) Comfortable working in a medically based environment.
h) Current police reference check and vulnerable sector screening

Benefical Skills & Experience:
a) Facilities, maintenance or grounds keeping experience or experience working in a camp/resort style setting.
b) Experience working in a child-centred environment
c) Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED qualification.

This position has the opportunity to live at the Ooch Muskoka or Rainbow Lake campsite for the duration of the contract (June to August as well as available for spring training where applicable). In consideration of the population Camp Ooch & Camp Trillium serve, the incumbent is a non-smoker.
