Camp Ooch & Camp Trillium (merged in 2020) offers a different journey, where kids with
cancer can just be kids, and families connect with a community of strength and support
when they need it the most.
So much more than a summer camp—we offer the social cure for childhood cancer. Our
camp-inspired programs deliver fun, friendship, and community to children and families at
no cost to them year-round, all across Ontario.

Summer Assistant Camp Director
1 contract Early Spring to September 5th with possible extension of Fall Season
1 contract Late spring to September 5th with possible extension of Fall Season
While 2020 was full of unexpected challenges, our new organization moved forward,
inspired by our vision of reaching every child and family affected by childhood cancer across
Ontario. We are developing plans to deliver modified in-person overnight camp programs
this summer at Camp Trillium Rainbow Lake and Ooch Muskoka, leveraging pandemic
protocols including social distancing, use of PPE, and plenty of time outdoors. We’re getting
ready for a life-changing summer of adventure, fun, and safety!
Would you like to be part of our amazing programs this summer? We are now accepting
applications for an experienced Summer Assistant Camp Director.
In order to be a successful part of our outstanding all-summer staff, you’ll be passionate
about facilitating amazing recreational experiences for kids and families while actively
supporting and providing resources to our volunteers throughout the summer.
Our Summer Assistant Camp Directors will work with the Camp Director to plan, develop
and coordinate all summer overnight programs.The Summer Assistant Camp Director helps
the Camp Director lead the Senior and summer staff teams as well as the sessional
volunteer teams to provide engaging programs for families and their children that are safe,
creative, challenging, accessible, experiential, as well as ability and age appropriate,
environmentally friendly and fun. They are a key leader in the planning and facilitation of
camp, as well as volunteer and family support.
The Sumer Assistant Camp Director will participate with the Camp Director in the
development, execution and monitoring of summer plans for all overnight camp
programming designed to meet the goals of the organization which will include (but not
limited to): the development of the schedule of activities and overall session schedule,
supporting the updating and development of activity programming, manuals, and
resources and act as a resource to activity and program contract staff, support session
theme development and evening/afternoon program execution, the coordination of activity
and program training for staff and volunteers and ongoing evaluation of program quality,
accessibility, and impact for all overnight camp programming.
Skills & Qualifications:
Our Summer Assistant Directors must have:
ï‚· Experience working, managing and supervising staff and volunteers.
ï‚· Overnight summer camp experience
ï‚· Strong oral and written communication skills.
ï‚· Comfortable presenting to large groups.
ï‚· Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
ï‚· Current CPR/First Aid Certification.
ï‚· Current police reference check and vulnerable sector screening.
ï‚· A current G class driver’s license, and eligible to be insured under Camp Ooch &
Camp Trillium’s Insurance Policy.
Benefical Skills & Experience:
ï‚· Experience in outdoor education or adventure education
ï‚· facilitating adaptive programming
ï‚· Current Bronze Cross or NLS certification.
ï‚· Pleasure Craft Operator’s License
ï‚· and a current driver’s license and eligibility to be insured under our Camp insurance
This position requires living at the Ooch Muskoka or Rainbow Lake campsite for the
duration of the contract (June to August as well as available for spring training where
applicable), with room and board provided. In consideration of the population Camp Ooch
& Camp Trillium serve, the incumbent is a non-smoker.
