Camp Tamarack is hiring Student Nursing Staff for 2021!
Camp Tamarack is a private coed overnight camp located on a private lake in Muskoka and is seeking a student nurse to work in the camp Health Centre. Our health care team looks after all of the various health needs of our campers and staff. The health centre team includes 1 rotating Doctor, 2 Full time Nurses (that may have to also be rotating but a full summer is available) and 2 full time nursing students or health care providers.
Camp Nursing is a rewarding opportunity to care for others in a non-traditional setting. Working in a camp environment provides a fun, challenging experience and opportunities for growth and leadership.
Camp Tamarack is looking to hire a student nurse who will have completed at least two years of nursing before the start of Summer 2021. This position reports to the on-site Registered Nurses and Camp Director. This is a supportive role and a great opportunity to observe and be mentored by experienced medical professionals.

Start Date: June 23, 2021
End Date: August 19th, 2021
Responsibilities and Duties:
Assist in preparing and administering daily medications to campers and staff
Assist in the triage stage of assessment
Promote sun safety, hydration, mental wellness
Assist in running training session for staff during pre-camp leadership
Assisting with cleaning and restocking in camp first aid kits
Monitoring supply levels and requesting restocks as needed
Assist in the filing and organizing of medical records
Assist with basic first aid as required
Support staff with in-take COVID-19 screening questionnaires
Provide basic coverage of the camp health centre when the medical staff is on break
Support in monitoring campers and staff placed in isolation, including delivering meals, as required
Any additional support required by camp medical staff
Completed 2nd year of nursing program
Current CPR and Standard First Aid
Experience with children and youth an asset
Vulnerable Sector check current within 6 months of June 2021 or willingness to obtain
Room and board provided
The camp setting provides opportunities to work outdoors and use camp sports, arts and waterfront activities/facilities, eg lake, ski, tennis, sail, dance, golf, etc
