Founded in 1936, Tamakwa is home to over 250 campers aged 7-16. Our intimate camp size allows for small camper to staff ratios where campers feel supported in every aspect of daily camp life. Tamakwa prides itself on traditional values, camp spirit, safety and skill development. Tamakwa’s rich traditions, family atmosphere, and unique site distinguishes itself, along with numerous watersports, landsports, creative arts, outdoor skills activities, as well as a premier canoe tripping program.
Led by Head Chef Phil Cowley, the kitchen staff at Tamakwa prepare and serve three meals and two snacks a day for campers and staff. The summer season runs from mid-june until the middle of August, with an opportunity for a few staff to arrive before camp and stay into the fall to prepare meals for the before and after camp groups.
