Senior Camp Leader
2021 CAMP CRICKET SUMMER JOB OPPORTUNITY – SENIOR CAMP LEADER
The Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club is a private social and multi-sport athletics Club in North Toronto. We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our 2021 Summer Day Camp team!
Summer Camp Leaders Work within the various Summer Day Camps offered: Multi-Sport, Tiny Tot, Sports Stars, Science and Art programs for children 4-12 years of age. The regular camps run from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., beginning mid-June and running until the beginning of September. These counsellors will be required from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Early morning (8:00am-9:00am) or after-care (4:00pm6:00pm) may be required.
Camp Leaders will also be required to work during special Club events such as Friday Fun Nights and Canada Day celebrations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinates, plans, develops and leads the various day camps offered
Assists in the training, supervision and mentoring of camp counsellors
Books outside entertainers/educators for special theme days for camp
Helps coordinate the scheduling of all camps and provides a safe, enjoyable and educational camp experience for participants
Represents the Club professionally and is a positive role model for counsellors and campers
Liaises with the Children’s Program Manager, parents, tennis staff, aquatic staff and Food and Beverage staff to ensure program quality
Creates weekly schedules and conducts regular meetings with counsellors
Participates in special events, dress-up days and athletic activities
Monitors children’s interactions to ensure no bullying occurs
Evaluates Camp Programs and monitors staff performance
Performs other duties as required
Acts as a Camp Director in the absence of the Children’s Program Manager
Health and Safety
Works in a manner that protects one’s own health and safety, and the safety of fellow employees and members
Works in compliance with Occupational Health & Safety acts and regulations, and follows Club health & safety policies and procedures
Uses personal protective equipment and clothing as directed by the Club
Reports any workplace hazards and dangers to Supervisor or the Joint Health and Safety Committee
Member Service
Assists members and guests in a helpful, efficient, friendly and enthusiastic manner when providing services
Assists to provide an excellent experience for Club members and guests
Job Requirements:
At least one year of supervisory experience in a Camp environment
Some post-secondary education in Teaching, Recreation, Early Childhood Education or other related field preferred;
Current CPR/AED and Emergency First Aid or Standard First Aid certification required;
HIGH FIVE certification required.
Experience in planning, supervising and administering recreation programs for children in a previous camp environment
Good organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
Must have an ability to provide advanced level customer service
Ability to collaborate with others (teamwork); to multi-task, and to lead, motivate and coordinate others
Have the confidence to work under minimal supervision as well as within a team environment
