Ropes Course Director
Camp Tamakwa is hiring a Ropes Course Director for 2021!
Camp Tamakwa is a children’s overnight summer camp in Algonquin Park located 2.5 hours north of Toronto. Founded in 1936, Tamakwa is home to over 250 boys and girls aged 7-16. Our intimate camp size allows for small camper to staff ratios where campers feel supported in every aspect of daily camp life. Tamakwa prides itself on traditional values, camp spirit, safety and skill development. Tamakwa’s rich traditions, family atmosphere, and unique site distinguishes itself, along with numerous watersports, landsports, creative arts, outdoor skills activities, as well as a premier canoe tripping program.
The Ropes Course Director is responsible for designing, implementing, and supervising team building and goal setting activities involving the high ropes, low ropes, zip lining and climbing wall, assisted by other ropes course staff and 1 or 2 counsellors.
Roles and Responsibilities:
You are flexible, creative, passionate about your activity, able to work with little or no supervision, love the outdoors, enjoy working with staff and campers of all ages and backgrounds, believe that safety is paramount and put the fun in FUNdamentals for your activity.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Engaging and teaching campers who visit your activity all aspects of the activity and help them work towards achieving their awards
Mentoring and supervision of staff assigned to your activity
Understanding and enforcing safety procedures with campers and staff at your activity
Maintaining a clean and organized activity area at all times
Undertaking daily checks of activity area and equipment for safety and preparedness
