Program Team
Program Team Wage: starting $400 per week
The Program Team plays a lead role in bringing the fun to Pine Crest! This team works together to ensure the camper experience at Pine Crest is unforgettable. Responsibilities include skills areas, special events, cabin programs, clubs and support for cabin programs. We are looking for a team of individuals dedicated to creating programs that are safe, enjoyable, challenging and inclusive. Members of the program team enjoy being wacky, developing new programs, mentoring staff, as well as being flexible in their day-to-day roles, and having a thorough understanding of high-quality programming. All program staff are supported and supervised by the Program Director.
Program Director
This position is responsible for ensuring that YMCA, CQRP, and OCA standards are met in each program area. This person is responsible for consistently facilitating the delivery of fun, inclusive and safe programming at Pine Crest. Specifically, the program director along with their team will:
- Plan and deliver special events
- Oversee skill development areas, ensuring skill levels are followed and tracked
- Contribute to staff training, program purchasing plans, and program resource development
- Mentor program team members and provide timely and frequent feedback
- Ensure that all program equipment is in good working order
- Facilitate a “Program fair” each session to help counsellors plan fun and meaningful programs for their campers.
- Help develop and implement cabin programming with the help of Counsellors and MACK’s
- Manage a budget for Program Supply needs throughout the summer
The successful applicant for this role will have exceptional organizational skills, have demonstrated exceptional program delivery, enjoy mentoring and coaching others and communicate well with others. The Program Director is directly supported by one of the Camp Directors.
Little Critters Day Camp Director
The Little Critters Director is responsible for overseeing the Little Critters Day Camp Program. Their primary responsibilities will be coordinating programming specific to campers aged 4 – 8, communicating with families, and consistency in delivering programming from week to week. The Day Camp Director works with their groups and other departments at camp to create schedules for Little Critters that ensure equipment and program spaces are available.
The Day Camp Director will take the lead on welcoming and building relationships with families, taking daily attendance, and running the value-beads program at the end of each day. This person will balance their time between working with children, families and staff to ensure that everyone involved in the Little Critters Day Camps has a fun and rewarding experience. The Day Camp Director is directly supervised by one of the Camp Directors.
First Time Camper Specialist
First Time Camper Specialist is responsible for overseeing programming for our younger campers, specifically, One-Weekers and Pine Cones. This person must have a keen eye for program quality and a demonstrated understanding of the unique program needs of younger campers and of parents new to camp. The First Time Camper Specialist helps counsellors to develop fun, creative, and exciting new programs to make sure our first-time campers have positive experiences! The First Time Camper Specialist will split their time between planning and administering programs and participating to set a great example for staff and campers alike. First Time Camper Specialist is directly supervised by the Program Director.
Skills Area Heads
Area Heads coordinate the day-to-day operation of our various skill areas, like ropes, boating, swimming, natural arts and crafts, and outdoor living skills. They will ensure the effective delivery of Pine Crest skills levels and develop new resources for their respective areas. Area Heads are also responsible for the overall operation of their program areas, ensuring that policies, procedures and safety expectations are being met while also maintaining equipment. Skills Area heads will take an active role in promoting high-quality programs around camp, supporting counsellors in their cabin programs and working with the program team to plan and deliver special events. Skills Area heads should have a desire to go that extra mile to ensure that all in camp programming is being run at a high level. Counsellors and MACK’s will look to the program team for guidance on how to develop and implement high-quality programming with their cabins. Skills area heads provide input to all special events at camp. They will assist in the planning, preparation and delivery of themed meals, all camp days, section nights and more.
