Nature Camp Photographer / Camp Support

Job Location: Humber Arboretum, Humber College North Campus (205 Humber College
Wage: $18.24 per hour
Dates: June 24 to August 31, 2024
Hours: Up to 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, no weekend work required)

Would you like to spend your summer outside, capturing the fun of a summer day camp
while you help ensure that the kids are having a great experience? The Humber Arboretum
is seeking a current Humber College or University of Guelph-Humber student with an eye
for photography and a love of working with kids to join our team this summer.

Job Description:
Summer nature day camp at the Humber Arboretum offers programs for ages 5 to 14 and
runs five days a week Monday to Friday (except for the August Civic Holiday). The
successful candidate’s primary responsibility will be to capture the activities of nature day
camp at the Humber Arboretum through photos and short video clips. This includes, but is
not limited to:
• keeping track of which campers do and do not have photo permission
• checking the weekly schedule and planning which activities to attend to ensure the
photos from each week reflect a variety of activities and ages
• regularly selecting and editing the best photos so they are ready for posting on
social media
• caring for camera equipment, including ensuring batteries are charged and ready
However, the Nature Camp Photographer will also support the camp leaders as needed,
which means at any time you may need to put the camera aside while you do things like:
• help set-up for or clean-up after an activity
• assist a camper who is struggling to understand instructions or master a skill
• escort groups of campers to or from the building so they can use the washroom
• sing songs, serve pizza, bandage a cut, listen intently while a 5-year-old tells you
about the name they gave to the snail they saw yesterday…
Finally, the Nature Camp Photographer will also be trained to lead or assist with some
nature photography activities with the campers, who will have access to point-and-shoot

• Canada Summer Jobs eligible (age 16 to 30 at the time of hiring) or Humber
College/University of Guelph-Humber work-study eligible
• Solid photography skills in natural light/outdoor settings (you will be using a Canon
EOS Rebel T5i)
• Experience with photo editing and file management
• Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to accomplish tasks
with little or no direct supervision
• Ability and interest in working with kids; prior camp or similar experience will be
considered an asset but is not required
• Previous experience teaching others or leading activities will be considered an
• A sustainability mindset and/or local nature knowledge will be considered an asset
• Current certificate in First Aid, and CPR Level C will be considered an asset
• Clear Police Record Check

Note: All positions are contingent on the condition that a clear Criminal Police Record
Check and Standard First Aid (w/CPR C) certificate are provided to the Humber Arboretum
before your start date.
