Woodeden Camp is a scenic 107-acre property, home to one of the largest fully accessible residential summer camps in Ontario for children and youth ages 7-26. Job Posting: Manager of Camp Operations – Woodeden
This new key leadership role is a year-round, salaried position with benefits and onsite living accommodations. The Manager of Camp Operations has overall responsibility to oversee the general operations of all camp and off-season programs. During the summer camp season, the emphasis will be on the management of all aspects of the summer camp program including supervision, planning, and coordinating. During the off-season the role will be focused on the development and implementation of new business leads and partnerships, while advancing the Easter Seals Ontario community profile.
The position would start no later than March of this year. We are looking for a long-term commitment from someone who is committed to quality and who is passionate about our mission of positively impacting our campers, staff and visitors.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead the Easter Seals Ontario mission statement and core values in all camp and off-season programs through:
Operating all aspects of the summer camp program, overseeing planning and staff recruitment and including implementation of new programs to meet the changing needs of campers
Supervising rental groups (individual and corporate), including developing and implementing strategies that will ensure efficiency and result in a quality experience
Overseeing community engagement opportunities, open houses, corporate days, service club events
Working with the Easter Seals Ontario leadership team to meet organizational strategic goals and collaborate on budget planning, communications and fund development
Collaborating with Site Manager to ensure a safe and healthy workplace that meets or exceeds compliance with all relevant government legislation and Ontario Camps Association Accreditation Standard
Manage and Coordinate:
Development and implementation of property-wide strategies that pro-actively use camp facilities to better serve our community and achieve organizational improvements that provide revenue generation and sustainability
Advance the profile of camp and community collaboration with donors and other key stakeholders to inspire ongoing engagements and commitment
Oversee rental groups (individual and corporate) including developing and implementing strategies that will ensure efficiency and result in a quality experience
Evident experience and passion of the care of children and young adults with physical disabilities
A post-secondary education with a minimum of five (5) years experience related directly to children’s summer camping
Proven abilities to administer a large residential camp including budgeting, registration, inventory order and control, personnel management, public health and other regulatory controls, programming and public relations
Proven leadership and entrepreneurial qualities
Proven ability to work independently, set objectives, delegate and prioritize workflow to efficiently meet goals
Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively within diverse groups
Ability to remain calm in variety of situations with experience in the development of risk identification and mitigation plans and execution of emergency response plans
As a condition of employment, a current Vulnerable Sector Screening Police Check and First Aid with CPR Level C (with AED training) certificate is required
The position involves evening and weekend commitments
