Camp Tamakwa is a children’s overnight summer camp in Algonquin Park located 2.5 hours north of Toronto. Founded in 1936, Tamakwa is home to over 250 boys and girls aged 7-16. Tamakwa prides itself on traditional values, camp spirit, safety and skill development. Tamakwa’s rich traditions, family atmosphere, and unique site distinguishes itself, along with numerous watersports, landsports, creative arts, outdoor skills activities, as well as a premier canoe tripping program.
Camp Tamakwa is hiring Maintenance/Transportation Staff!
The successful candidate will have experience in boat driving, basic carpentry and plumbing skills.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Certain aspects of general maintenance all around camp
Movement of people and goods in and out of water-access camp
Operation of a barge, pointer boats, aluminum boats with tiller drive (hand) motors and possibly a tractor
Some heavy lifting required
Requirements:
Valid Boat Licence and boat driving experience
Strong organizational skills
Good time management
Able to work independently
Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
Flexible, reliable and responsible
Self-motivated
WHMIS certification
Background Check
Our Maintenance staff work as a team and report to the Head of Maintenance and Camp Director.
This position includes a competitive salary, room and board and a fantastic summer at camp. This position has the opportunity to continue after the summer season.
