Easter Seals Ontario is an industry leader in providing fully accessible summer camp programs at our two camps, Camp Woodeden in London and Camp Merrywood in Perth. Our camping programs give kids the opportunity to experience a wide range of fully accessible activities such as sailing, kayaking, high ropes course and so much more.

Woodeden Camp is a scenic 107-acre property, home to one of the largest fully accessible residential summer camps in Ontario for children and youth ages 7-26. Position Overview:
The Maintenance Lead Hand is responsible for supporting general building and property maintenance and for performing highly diversified duties to maintain equipment, buildings and grounds to support a fully accessible camping program and year-round recreation facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
• Supports the maintenance of assigned facilities (e.g., kitchen, cabins, program areas, swimming pool, pool deck, equipment areas, etc.) to ensure sanitary and safe camp operations
• Operates groundskeeping power equipment to maintain external property (including weeding, grass cutting, chopping wood, gardening, landscaping, gutter cleaning, and snow removal)
• Supports minor construction work, such as dismantling and erecting walls, completing
carpentry work, pouring concrete, etc.
• Assists with the setup and/or movement of equipment (e.g., picnic tables, benches, etc.)
to ensure availability for camp activities and rental groups
• Prepares, paints, and decorates interior and exterior surfaces as required
• Stocks chemicals and other cleaning/maintenance supplies ensuring adequate
quantities are available
• With the support of the Site Supervisor, performs regular preventive maintenance on
machines, equipment, and facilities, light plumbing and carpentry duties
• Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas
• Supports regular property inspections and repairs and provides input for reports on
cabins, pool, kitchen facilities, recreation space, recreation equipment, common areas,
building exteriors, and landscape repairs
• Provides support locking or unlocking doors, turning lights on/off, cleaning spills,
ensuring facilities including floors are clean and hazard free
• Supports removal of waste (garbage, recycling, proper storage, and disposal of
hazardous waste)
• Cleans light fixtures and changes lightbulbs/tubes
Professional Qualifications, Skills and Required Experience
• High school diploma (or equivalent education)
• Experience in site maintenance and general repairs, including the use of lawn care
equipment
• Ability or desire to learn how to perform small repairs
• Valid driver’s license (G license or higher)

Working Conditions:
• Proximity and access to vehicle to travel to the site required
• WHMIS and Occupational Health & Safety Training Provided
• Must have a clear Criminal Background Check (18 years older)
• Adhere to Covid-19 policies and protocols
• Safety equipment will be required, e.g., steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
• Work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
• Work Schedule: Monday to Friday with the occasional evenings and weekends

Hourly Rate Range: $18 to $22 per hour
