Kitchen Staff
Do you love food? Do you enjoy food prep, cooking, baking, and working as part of a team to get delicious food on the table for hundreds of hungry folks? Then working in the kitchen at Tamakwa is the perfect job for you!
Led by Head Chef Phil Cowley, the kitchen staff at Tamakwa prepare and serve three meals and two snacks a day for campers and staff. The summer season runs from mid-June until the mid-August, with an opportunity for a few staff to arrive before camp and stay into the fall to prepare meals for the before and after camp groups.
In addition to the responsibilities below, all kitchen staff will participate in the night snack rotation to serve the staff snack.
Positions available include:
Position: Dishwashers
Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize all dishware, utensils and cooking equipment
- Keep dishwashing and dish storage areas clean, sanitized and clear of clutter
- Put away all dishes in an organized manner
- Responsible for daily cleaning of all areas of the kitchen
- Assist where needed in the kitchen as directed by the Head Chef
Position: General Helper
Responsibilities:
- Assist where needed in the kitchen as directed by the Head Chef
- Perform every position in the kitchen to assist whichever department requires additional assistance.
Position: Special Diets Cook
Responsibilities:
- Work with Head Staff to ensure the dietary requirements of campers and staff are met and that items prepared for them are safe for people with specific food allergies/intolerances
- Prepare daily vegetarian and gluten free options
- Ensure the special meals are prepared in a safe and cautious manner
- Fill out the allergens board before lunch and dinner.
- Assist where needed in the kitchen as directed by the Head Chef
