Kitchen Staff Assistant Position

For over 65 years Camp Wahanowin has provided a significant and memorable camp experience to thousands of children and adults. Staff employed as kitchen assistants are an integral part of camp, responsible for all aspects of the camp/s food service including meals, snacks, special banquets and special programs and activities.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Prepare, serve and clean up all meals and snacks
· Maintain high standard of cleanliness, sanitation and safety
· Inventory control, receiving trucks, rotation of stock
· Assist in washing equipment, pots and utensils, by hand or machine, cleaning and mopping the kitchen, sanitizing counters after meals
· Assist in any area of kitchen or dining room, as requested by the Head Chef or Camp Director
· Support the camp goals and policies

EMPLOYMENT DATES:
· May 8th or June 26th -to- August 17th or September 4th

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Desire and ability to work in a kitchen at a residential camp
· Training and experience cooking for large groups
· Completed Background Check
· Ability to learn to do tasks as assigned, accept supervision
· Good character, integrity, and adaptability
· Enthusiasm, sense of humour, good judgment, patience, and self control
· Knowledge of standards of food preparation, serving and kitchen procedures
