Tasks and Responsibilities
Overview: Kitchen staff members are responsible for following the directions of the Kitchen Manager cooking food, and cleaning the cooking area. They are additionally responsible for abiding by and upholding Health Department and OCA health codes for food handling, food preparation and food storage, and for understanding safe food handling for kids with allergies and other food sensitivities.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare meals for camp on a daily basis.
- Understand health standards and keep the kitchen up to code throughout the course of the summer.
- Hold counselors and specialists accountable to following kitchen rules and health codes.
- Maintain a kosher kitchen and be aware and attentive to dietary needs and allergies of all campers and staff.
- Help with receiving orders, unloading, checking inventory, straightening shelves and refrigerators, cleaning the kitchen bathroom, and keeping the kitchen and storage areas clean and sanitary.
- Dishwashing
- Maintaining cleanliness of the dining hall before and after all meals
- Adhere to all staff responsibilities regarding campers’ health, safety, and wellbeing.
Qualifications:
- Previous Kitchen Experience an Asset
- Ability to Work in Teams
- Willingness to develop new skills
- Understanding of Kashrut Laws an Asset
- Must have completed high school by the end of this school year and/or be at least 18 on December 31, 2021
