Services
- Providing healthy and child-friendly meals and snacks that adequately match the appetites and needs of all campers and staff
- Modelling and upholding a consistently high standard of professionalism, teamwork and hospitality for all kitchen staff, camp leaders and campers;
- Oversight of cleaning services to maintain a clean kitchen that adheres to the standards of Public Health and Canterbury Hills requirements;
Duties
- Assist Head Cook with food preparation that includes baking, cooking and distribution;
- Implementing menu plans and following recipes;
- Serving food at meal times;
- Planning and provision of alternatives required for special diets;
- Maintaining a clean kitchen and work area;
- Planning and provision of camp-out dinners, out-lunches and unit baking activities;
- Taking stock and assisting with inventory control;
- Careful adherence to the Canterbury Hills Camp Nut Policy in all kitchen management and services;
- Ensuring that spoiled or spoiling food is not served by the kitchen;
- Some heavy lifting – 25 to 45 lbs.;
- Other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager.
Requirements:
- Readiness to work hard with a good attitude
- Able to work in a fast-paced camp kitchen environment;
- Good customer service manners.
- Experience in basic food preparation;
- Available from June 23 to Aug. 27, 2022 with option of a contract extension from Aug. 28 to Sept. 1, 2022.
- Available to work 35-40 assigned hours per week. Sun. through Fri. between 6am and 7pm;
- Providing own transportation to and from Canterbury Hills Camp in Ancaster;
- Food Handling Certificate

Salary: starts at $17.20/hour
