Head Chef
Full time, seasonal, first part of June until mid-September at girls’ overnight sports camp. Assist with meal preparation and service under the direction of the Head Chef. Assist with barbecue cook outs and set up. Excellent knife skills, knowledge of homemade soups, sauces and ability to cook wholesome meals from scratch. Experience cooking for larger numbers preferred (i.e. approx. 100 meals three times daily.) Ability to accommodate special diets lactose or gluten free, vegetarian. Strong work ethic, good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team an asset. Pay based on 7 hours per day for six days a week. One day off per week. Room and board provided.
Supervise activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks and other kitchen workers
Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory
Create new recipes
Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods
Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards
Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food
Supervise activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks and other kitchen workers
Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions
Requisition food and kitchen supplies
Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
Supervise activities of sous-chefs, specialist chefs, chefs and cooks
Estimate food requirements and food and labour costs
Qualifications:
Excellent knife skills, knowledge of homemade soups, sauces and ability to cook wholesome meals from scratch. Experience cooking for larger numbers preferred. Certified in safe food handling
