Instructors – Island Camp (Day)
Day Instructor: 4 positions available
The Day Instructor reports to and is under the day-to-day direction of the Camp Director. The Day Instructor will be responsible for supporting the program directors, and supervising campers during the day (approximately 8:30am-4:00pm). Meals are provided during working hours.
Summary of Duties:
– Act as the primary counsellor for a group of 10-15 campers, ensuring that they have a fun and memorable experience at camp
– Supervise campers and be responsible for their well-being and behavior, as well as their growth & skill achievement
– Model appropriate behavior for campers to foster a healthy respect for the community and camp spaces
– Assist program directors with delivery of daytime programs
– Set-up materials for camp programs, and clean-up resources and facility spaces after use
– Support the supervision of meals with set-up, clean-up and ensuring campers are following rules and procedures of the dining hall for eating and cleaning
– Escort campers on the Monday and Friday ferry trip
– Follow safety routines, protocols and procedures of the TDSB and the Summer Camp
– Attend and participate in a paid orientation day (mandatory)
– Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
– Related experience working with children ages 9-12
– Enthusiastic, and proven ability to work as a team player
– Responsible with a positive and service-oriented attitude
– Current First Aid & CPR certification
– Successful candidates will be required to provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check
