Healthcare Student
Camp Huronda is located on the shores of Lake Waseosa in Ontario’s beautiful Muskoka area. It occupies 100 acres of land and includes gorgeous waterfront areas, a cool forest, and rugged hiking and mountain bike trails.
At D-Camps children enjoy an authentic camp experience while having all of their diabetes needs met by a team of skilled medical professionals. Our medical staff includes endocrinologists, doctors, nurses, dietitians, medical residents, interns, and health care students. Together, they form a support network to help campers manager their diabetes more independently.
One week, two week, and full summer contracts available starting July 1 – August 26, 2023.
Healthcare students are responsible for assisting in the diabetes management and general health care of campers and staff, assisting in monitoring blood glucose and ketones for campers, recognizing hypo/hyperglycemia and treating according to D-Camps protocols. Students must act only under the supervision of the Healthcare Team lead and are required to consult with the lead if unsure of a task.
Requirements:
- Standard First Aid with CPR C or HCP
- Currently studying in the field of nursing, medicine, or health related field (including, but not limited to nursing, nutrition, paramedicine, pharmacy)
- Camp experience an asset
- A completed, clear Criminal Record Check in compliance with D-Camps policies
