$640+/week (incl. Room & Board)

CNIB Lake Joseph Centre (Mactier, ON) 

CNIB Lake Joe is a fully accessible lakefront facility located in Muskoka providing a unique blend of recreation, skills training, social interaction and personal discovery in a safe, inclusive environment. Two hours north of Toronto, Lake Joe stretches over 12.5 acres of waterfront property on the northwest corner of beautiful Lake Joseph. Staff and volunteers provide a wide range of high-quality programs to people of all ages who are living with sight loss.  

Job Description:  

The Head of Waterfront will provide support to the planning, supervision and facilitation of all waterfront programs, with a focus on best guest experience. This position is responsible for providing leadership and training to staff and volunteers to ensure guests are provided a safe and exceptional experience during all waterfront programming. 

  • Provide clear direction to lifeguards, highlighting specific zone and duty coverage 
  • Manage and support staff in maintaining daily waterfront and water vehicle records 
  • Ensure safety at the waterfront by supporting and maintaining lifeguard rotation and ensuring all waterfront equipment is in good working condition 
  • With guest safety as priority, establish and enforce safety procedures among staff, volunteers, guests and other visitors 
  • Assist and/or lead waterfront programming, as assigned 
  • Coordinate programs during waterfront time, including boat cruises, tubing, waterfront games, workshops, etc. 
  • Other duties as assigned  


  • Strong interpersonal skills, including patience and communication 
  • Experience working at an Ontario Camps Association (OCA) camp an asset 
  • Ability to resolve conflict and take a lead role in emergency situations 
  • Must have current Waterfront NLS certification 
  • Current (within 6 months of start date) Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check  
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C 
  • Current Pleasure Craft Operator card (PCO) 
  • Ability to train use of rescue boat and paddle boards 
  • Ability to work flexible hours and work outdoors for long periods of time 
  • Must reside at CNIB Lake Joe during operational season and be willing to share accommodations with another staff member
