Position:  Head of Riding/Instructor

Location: Stouffville, Ontario

Start/End Date: May 13, 2022 to August 27, 2022

Earthbound Kids is a seasonal summer camp and riding stable with two locations serving children and youth ages 4-16.  Our programs include day camps, overnight camp, riding lessons, leadership programs, and outdoor education programs. The programs we offer have a strong emphasis on farming and environmental education.

We are looking for a mature and caring Horseback Riding Instructor for our Stouffville, Ontario location, for the summer of 2022.  This is a leadership position as the successful candidate will manage the supervision, care and safety of campers along with maintaining operating standards of the riding stable. The position involves, working alongside the Camp Director and Camp staff, introducing campers to horse-back riding and the care of horses.

The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, in a farm environment.  A love for animals and working with children is a necessity.

Responsibilities: 

• Providing safe, age and ability appropriate riding lessons
• Assist in grouping children based on age and ability and selecting suitable mounts
• Assist in providing emotional and physical support to riders in the lessons when needed
• Reacting appropriately to accidents and incidents
• Recording and documenting accidents and incidents
• Assist in the delivery of engaging mounted and un-mounted camp activities

Qualifications & Experience:

• Standard First Aid, CPR C
• Coaching or Instructor Certification or working toward
• A minimum of 2 years teaching experience
• Criminal Record Check
• Education in Equine facility management is an asset
• Be at least 17 years of age

Compensation:  $18-20/hr (Compensation based on qualifications and experience)
