Guest Services Coordinator, CNIB Lake Joe

For more than 60 years, CNIB Lake Joe has been providing an exciting, safe, and accessible camp experience for people living with sight loss. CNIB Lake Joe is looking for a Guest Services Coordinator to help us bring the magic of summer camp to life for people living with sight loss!

Reporting to the General Manager, CNIB Lake Joe, this role will support guest services and the administration of the camp office in a year-round role. In covering a broad range of duties, this position is responsible for all aspects of guest registration and camp business functions, with a focus on customer service and the promotion of CNIB Lake Joe.

What you’ll do

  • Provide excellence in customer experience for all guests and groups through in-person, phone, written and electronic communication.
  • Coordinate day-to-day office administration: using database ‘CampBrain’ support guest registration; coordinate all bookings; confirm guest, visitor, volunteer, and group reservations; receive payments, process receipts and refunds; and other administrative duties as required.
  • Take a guest service focused approach in assisting the General Manager in supporting programs, services and the special needs of guest groups.
  • Coordinate the execution of the Lake Joe transportation strategy.
  • Manage CNIB Lake Joe guest satisfaction surveys; assist guests in providing feedback regarding programs and guest experience.
  • Oversee the operation of the Tuck Shop and online Camp Store: research new items, obtain quotations, prepare orders, monitor and restock inventory within budget.
  • Supervise seasonal staff; with the General Manager, complete selection of new employees, support orientation and training; supervise performance and development; and recognize accomplishments.
  • Assist with presentations/job fairs, etc. to promote CNIB Lake Joe; support the implementation of marketing strategies to prospective guests/markets.
  • Within the spirit of the Canadian Code for Volunteer Involvement, foster a Culture of Volunteerism through the coordination, recruitment, supervision, recognition and retention of volunteers.
  • Under the guidance of the General Manager, monitor seasonal operational expenses for CNIB Lake Joe (e.g., petty cash, credit card reconciliations, expense reports, etc.)
  • Make recommendations to the General Manager regarding new initiatives and ideas to promote “best guest experience.”
  • Ensure adherence to current Health and Safety legislation and requirements.

  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and “best guest experience.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety legislation/requirements.
  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software.
  • Knowledge of CampBrain Database and Square merchant system an asset.
  • Knowledge of accounting fundamentals an asset.
  • Knowledge of Zoom and/or video conferencing software an asset.

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Previous administrative experience in dynamic office environment.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Previous experience within a camp or hospitality environment an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience in working in not-for-profit, in the field of sight loss desired.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of supervisory practices, principles, and administration.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and reside at CNIB Lake Joe as required (response to any emergencies) May through October. Willingness to share accommodations with other staff member if required.
  • Ability to work from the CNIB Lake Joe office year-round.
  • Current Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is required.
  • Current Driver’s Abstract is required.
  • Hold a Standard First Aid and CPR-C Certification.
  • Class F Ontario Driver’s License (or ability to acquire).
  • Current Bronze Cross/NLS an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
