CAMP PINE CREST FOOD SERVICES TEAM MEMBER
(Seasonal Weekly Contract)
Starting Rate: $721.60/week
Effective Dates: IMMEDIATELY – Oct 31, 2022 (with possibility of extension)

Nature & Scope:
YMCA Camping and Outdoor Education offers outdoor experiences that foster personal growth and build community. After taking part in our programs, children and youth return home more confident, independent, and with new friendships.
YMCA Camp Pine Crest is located on 650 acres in Muskoka, Ontario. The facility operates year-round with a large overnight summer camp program, summer day camp programs, growing winter programs and busy spring and fall outdoor centre seasons.
Food Services team members work with the Food Services Director and Food Services Coordinator(s) to prepare and service all meals and snacks during outdoor centre seasons. Food Services team members will gain experience working in an industrial kitchen and maintaining all regulations and standards that relate to food service. Food Services team members must work well with others and be eager to work in a fast paced, energetic environment.
Accommodation and meals are provided on site at no additional cost.
Food Preparation & Delivery: Responsible for preparing and serving delicious and nutritious meals to campers, outdoor centre clients and staff. Tasks would include chopping vegetables, traying food for the oven, preparing soups, prepping condiments and more. Food is served both buffet and family style based on group numbers.
Cleaning & Equipment Management: Supports the Food Services Director and Coordinator(s) to ensure the camp kitchen(s) and storage areas are clean and organized, meeting and exceeding health standards, implements food service equipment maintenance and cleaning schedules. Helps with dishes as required.
Relationship Building: Builds relationships with participants, members, staff, volunteers and community partners, representing the YMCA of Greater Toronto and Camp Pine Crest in a professional manner, and providing a high level of customer service to all guests of the outdoor center.
Health & Safety: Supports food services team with ensuring the kitchen is clean, safe and well maintained, bringing any health and safety concerns to the Food Services Director.
Understands the importance of the volunteer-staff partnership and integrates the value of philanthropy and volunteerism in dealings with members, volunteers, donors and staff.
Understands the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services.
Demonstrates appropriate behaviours in line with our Mission, Vision and Values as reflected in our YMCA competencies

- Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity.
- Experience working in food services preferred
- Food Handlers Certificate (or willing to obtain)
- Standard First Aid and “CPR”
- Flexibility regarding assigned working hours, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays required
