All-Camp Counsellor (AC) – Family Camp
Positions Available: Approx. 4-8
Reports to: Program Facilitators (and Program Area Heads)
Contract Duration: June 25, 2022 – September 3, 2022
Contract Value: $1,256.64
This entry level position is for those who are looking to gain their first professional experience in the field of summer (family) camping. Throughout the summer Family Camp ACs will help run our family camp program, in various areas, assisting with programs and gaining skills to ultimately lead on their own. Family Camp ACs may second-staff programs that need assistance for ratios (such as lifeguarding,
ropes or kids corner), or also where extra safety is important and additional help is necessary (such hikes, bikes, programs with fire etc.).
In preparation for moving into a Float or Area Head positions in the future, Family Camp ACs also receive training through the summer, unique to their roles. This further develops their skills in all areas of camp. Training includes lessons in “hard skills” such canoeing, archery, ropes etc., and also “soft skills” like customer service, leadership, and communication.
Requirements
- Due to Industry Guidelines & Standards, ACs must be 17 years of age by December 31st of the year of employment
- Minimum qualifications of Standard First Aid, CPR level “C” and NLS must be met
