Position: Inclusion Facilitator – Day Camps

Department: Outdoor Services/Camp Department

Reports to: Director of Day Camps

Positions available in following locations:
Guelph, Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo, Stratford and Heidelberg (both at Y Building and outdoor Y camp locations)

Duration of Employment:
Summer contact, June – September, 2021


Our YMCA of Three Rivers Summer Day Camp Programs are offered at multiple locations throughout Guelph, Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo, Stratford and Heidelberg. Our summer day camps will offer traditional camp activities such as swimming, active games, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, low ropes, campfire cooking, sports, arts, crafts, fishing, drama, archery and more depending on the camp location.

Position Description:

Are you looking for a rewarding job at this summer? Are you passionate about supporting children of all abilities? Inclusion Facilitators will work directly with campers who require extra support to be successful at camp, including campers with disabilities, to ensure all children have a positive experience at camp. In addition, Inclusion Facilitators will provide extra support to camp counselors with camper behavioural support, fostering friendships and creating inclusive programming.

A commitment of 40hrs+/wk. is required for 9 weeks of summer camp with an addition of 1-2 weeks of staff training prior to camp. *Attendance at camp training is mandatory

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to campers who need extra support to be successful at camp, including campers with a disability and/or significant behaviour challenges
  • Support to front line camp counselors with behaviour management strategies, creating inclusive programming and strategies for camper success
  • Develop and implement tracking system to support behaviour management in partnership with counselors and the camp leadership
  • Provide exceptional attention to Health & Safety/ supervision of campers


  • Education in a field related to working with children, disability studies, education, recreation and leisure is an asset
  • Previous camp experience an asset
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C Certification or willing to obtain
  • High Five – Principals of Healthy Child Development Certification or willing to obtain
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Criminal Record Check
