Job Goal / Summary: 

As a  Cedar Ridge Staff member, your primary concern is the physical and mental health well-being of campers. The Climbing Instructor is responsible for safely teaching beginner to advanced Climbing skills to campers. Cedar Ridge Camp is currently taking applications for the position of Climbing Instructor for our 2022 Summer Camp. The Climbing Instructor will be responsible for working with staff and LIT’s to ensure the safety and quality of all climbing programs including Rock Wall, Bouldering, High Ropes, Repelling, and Climbing Trips. 

Qualifications and Certificates: 

  • Mandatory Pre-camp training
  • Level 1 & 2 Climbing & Rescue Training 
  • Knowledge of climbing terminology 


  • Deliver high-quality, age-appropriate high ropes and climbing instruction.
  • Develop creative programs and progressive lesson plans for campers.
  • Caring for and maintaining climbing equipment and program areas.
  • Ensuring safety and risk management protocols are followed.
  • Teach and record camper levels.
  • Developing and maintaining climbing routes.
  • Ongoing training and professional development of skills.
  • Organizing climbing trips alongside the Tripping Director.
  • Taking on the responsibilities of a Cedar Ridge Staff Member.
  • Keeping accurate and up to date climbing logs (staff hours and equipment usage)

  • Ascend/Descend ladders.
  • Perform rescues in a variety of situations.
  • Work at heights and/or standing for long periods of time.
  • Physically demanding ( pushing, lifting, carrying, climbing, pulling).
