Cleaning Supervisor


Camp Tamarack is situated on a 1000 acre property on a private lake in the heart of Muskoka and every summer welcomes hundreds of children aged 7 to 16 years old to participate in sessions ranging from one week to seven weeks in duration. The campers are exposed to a variety of land, water and arts activities, including having an opportunity to choose certain focus areas themselves. The camp has the goal to provide the campers with a safe, stimulating and caring environment in which they can develop skills, confidence and self-esteem, as well as friendships and memories for a lifetime. Camp Tamarack’s Outdoor Education & Leadership Centre welcomes many different school and corporate groups in May, June and September to explore and take advantage of the amazing outdoor facility Camp Tamarack has to offer. Camp Tamarack also serves as a unique destination for occasions such as weddings and other special events.

Camp Tamarack is looking for a dynamic, hard-working, energetic staff to supervise the Camp cleaning team. This is a seasonal position. The individual will work directly with the Camp Director and Facility Director to lead the cleaning staff through daily and weekly responsibilities to clean and maintain the upkeep of the facilities.



Overseeing that you and your team members:

  • Prepare buildings and facilities for start of spring crew arriving and camp season
  • Clean all main washroom/shower facilities daily
  • Wipe all touch points
  • Clean main facilities, eg. Health Centre, Head staff cabins, Doctor cabin, theatere, Rec Hall, etc on a specific schedule
  • Stock all hand sanitizers
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and assist with ordering cleaning supplies
  • Removal of garbage from washrooms
  • Follow all Covid 19 protocol
  • Clean cabin washrooms following a set schedule
  • Mop cabins following a set schedule
  • Report any incidents to Camp Director/Maintenance Director
  • Follow all Occupational Health & Safety policies and protocols
  • Assist maintenance crew if necessary
  • Assist dining hall crew if necessary

The Cleaning Supervisor will be required to:

  • Maintain training in such areas as:
    • WHMIS, AODA, Health & Safety, ladder training, water collection
  • Possess a current Criminal Record, Judicial Matters, Vulnerable Sector Record (within 3 years)
  • Act as a seasonal full-time working staff member on the Health & Safety  Committee
  • Hold a valid driver’s license
  • Be available during working hours to use camp vehicle to make town runs to pick up equipment
  • Possess excellent leadership qualities
  • Provide staff evaluations during staff work term
  • Attend necessary training

  • Room and board provided if necessary
  • Local staff may drive in for work and live off-site

Salary: Varies depending on position (Senior vs support member & living arrangements)
