Camp Oconto is hiring counsellors/activity instructors for Summer 2022!

Founded in 1924, Camp Oconto is a traditional girls overnight camp located on the beautiful shores of Eagle Lake north of Kingston, Ontario. Oconto is a supportive environment where campers can express themselves, build self-confidence, gain skills and make lifelong friendships.

The successful applicants will be friendly, responsible, love working with children, and enjoy instructing activities. The role includes competitive salary, room and board, and an amazing time!

Specific skills Camp Oconto is interested in are people who enjoy/are skilled at: Arts & Crafts; Tennis and Horseback Riding.

Dates: June 24^th to August 29^th, 2022

Duties include but are not limited to: 

• Provide supervision to campers in your care
• Bringing creativity and a positive mindset to foster great experiences for the campers
• Work with a team of staff and participate in all camp activities and special programs
• Teach an activity to campers during activity times
• Act as a positive role model to the campers and other staff
• Adhere to Oconto’s safety and COVID-19 guidelines
• Be responsive and attentive to campers’ needs
• Have fun!

Typical Day:

8:00                 Wake up (polar bear dip if you want to)

8:20                 Flag Raising

8:30                 Breakfast

9:00                 Clean up

9:30                 Assembly (twice weekly)

10:00               1st Activity Period

10:45               2nd Activity Period

11:30              3rd Activity Period

12:15              Free Time

12:45              Lunch

1:45                 Rest Hour

2:45                 4th Activity Period

3:30                 5th Activity Period

4:15                6th Activity Period

5:00                Free time

5:45                Dinner

6:30                Evening Program

8:30 – 10:00     Tuck in with counsellors and quiet time in cabins to prepare for bed

Minimum Qualifications:

Standard First Aid & CPR C

Clear Criminal Record and Judicial Matters check (dated no earlier than January 2022)
