Camp Lifeguard: Full Time – Summer Contract
Thank you for considering working for the Camp Winston Foundation and the children we serve. A summer season with us is an unforgettable and life-changing experience. We provide overnight summer camp experiences to youth aged 7 to 17 diagnosed with neurological disorders. In your time with us, you will learn about yourself, how to communicate, how to help those with lived-experience that is very different from your own, make friends that will last well into the great blue yonder, and you will have a meaningful impact as a coach and role-model for children who need you desperately. You will give of yourself and you will receive in equal measure. You will join a group of 70 staff as we embark on a bright and diverse adventure to help 140 children. You’ll be responsible for the total-care of 3-5 children at a time with staff teams of 5-6 members.
We generally hire mature adults in post-secondary school, with a wide range of personal and professional passions. Kindness, humour, flexibility, and initiative are the core qualities of our counselors. We are dedicated to the growth and maturity of our staff and are committed to the mental health and wellbeing of all those who join Camp Winston.
Specifically, openings for Water Activity Staff include joining the lifeguard team, being the activity staff lead for boating or swimming, and running daily activity rotations for groups of 4 to 5 campers. You will also be a front-line staff member with a cabin of campers and will take on the role of a camp counsellor as well.
