Wage: $16.55/hour

What do you offer?

The Kitchen Staff will function as a team member responsible for overseeing the function of the kitchen, ensuring that meals are delivered to campers and staff in a timely fashion. The Kitchen Staff must be courteous and professional in dealing with campers, staff and the general public, exemplifying YMCA values and maintaining a high standard of work ethic.

Some of the tasks of this position include:

  • Preparing meals for campers and staff.
  • Ensuring meals are delivered to campers and staff in a timely fashion.
  • Keeping up-to-date inventory of food and supplies.
  • Communicating inventory needs with supervisor and assisting in ordering food and supplies.

What qualifications and abilities are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have the following:

Language

  • Ability to work in English
  • Bilingualism is an asset

Experience, Skills and Abilities

  • Standard First Aid and CPR “C” or equivalent
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate an asset
  • Ability to work in a team setting
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with program participants, members, staff and volunteers

Additional Requirements

  • Must be 16 years old by June 24, 2024.
  • Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
  • A Police Record check, not more than 6 months old is required. Police Records checks are reviewed on an individual basis and the offense(s) – if any – is considered in the decision-making process in relation to the requirement of working with children, therefore not eliminating all candidates with a record from being offered a position.
  • Semi-annually, staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.
