Camp Craft/ Nature/ Fishing Instructor

Are you interested in spending your summer on a lake in Algonquin Park? Do you have a passion for camping and the outdoors? If so, then you should come be a part of the Taylor Statten Camps staff team!

The Taylor Statten Camps are Canada’s oldest fourth generational family-run traditional summer camp. We are located on Canoe Lake in Algonquin Provincial Park. The camp is made up of Camp Wapomeo for Girls and Camp Ahmek for Boys. Our camper’s age varies from 6 – 16.

Camp Craft Instructor

We are currently seeking two (2) Camp Craft Instructors, one (1) at each camp.

 

Job description:

Camp Craft is the bridge between our in-camp program and out of camp canoe tripping program. The focus is on camp craft skills such as orienteering, map reading, fire starting, fire by friction, tent setup, tarp setups, cooking, and plant/wildlife identification. Whoever heads-up Camp Craft needs to be creative, flexible and have a lot of initiative and knowledge of the outdoors. It is a very flexible program and can be tailored to suit the instructor’s skillset and the age of the campers. In 2022 we also introduced Fishing to this program on a daily basis- this can also be flexible depending on the applicants’ areas of interest.

Qualifications/Job Requirements:

  • Emergency First Aid or Equivalent and CPR “B”
  • Valid Ontario Fishing Licence

Compensation varies depending on experience.  All positions include room, board, laundry and use of facilities.
