Assistant Facility Director


Camp Tamarack is situated on a 1000 acre property on a private lake in the heart of Muskoka and every summer welcomes hundreds of children aged 7 to 16 years old to participate in sessions ranging from one week to seven weeks in duration. The campers are exposed to a variety of land, water and arts activities, including having an opportunity to choose certain focus areas themselves. The camp has the goal to provide the campers with a safe, stimulating and caring environment in which they can develop skills, confidence and self-esteem, as well as friendships and memories for a lifetime. Camp Tamarack’s Outdoor Education & Leadership Centre welcomes many different school and corporate groups in May, June and September to explore and take advantage of the amazing outdoor facility Camp Tamarack has to offer. Camp Tamarack also serves as a unique destination for occasions such as weddings and other special events.

Camp Tamarack is looking for a dynamic, hard working, energetic staff to join the Camp facility team. This is a full-time position. The individual will work directly with the Facility Director to lead different teams during different seasons in such areas as facility maintenance, cleaning, upkeep, seasonal and year-round building projects, etc. It is advantageous if this person possesses trade skills in an area such as plumbing, electrical or carpentry.

The Assistant Facility Director will:

  • Work cooperatively with the Facility Director, Camp owners and directors throughout the year
  • Assist in overseeing all facility, maintenance and building-related activities
  • be responsible for preserving the good condition of infrastructure and ensure that facilities are safe and well functioning.
  • effectively oversee different teams who will work on facility and maintenance projects at different times in the calendar year.

The Assistant Facility Director responsibilities may include:

  • Assist in planning and coordinating all installations and refurbishments
  • Assist in managing the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards
  • Assist in inspecting buildings’ structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations
  • Follow all Occupational, Health & Safety protocols/procedures
  • Manage the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards
  • Assist in inspecting buildings’ structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations
  • Supervise all facilities staff and external contractors related to cleaning and maintenance
  • Assist in control activities like waste disposal, water collection, fire plan etc.
  • Assist in providing performance reviews on team staff

The Assistant Facility Director must:

  • Maintain training in such areas as:
    • WHMIS, AODA, Health & Safety, ladder training, water collection
  • Possess a current Criminal Record, Judicial Matters, Vulnerable Sector Record (within 3 years)
  • Act as Full-time working staff member on the Health & Safety  Committee
  • Have a current driver’s license


Remuneration is commensurate with experience and includes group benefits and the use of a company vehicle
