Assistant Director – Programs (Seasonal)

***NOTE: This is currently a seasonal position for summer 2024. This may turn into a one year contract and/or permanent role based on the job performance of the successful applicant in the summer.

General:  Reporting to the Camp Director, the Assistant Director – Program assists in leading and managing Moorelands Camp, a leadership-based program that provides children and youth with economic barriers with a wilderness camping experience designed to develop their personal leadership by build their competence, confidence, character and making positive connections with caring adult leaders and role models.

Responsibilities:

  • Quality and Safety: Ensures that Moorelands Camp meets OCA standards and adheres to the principles, goals, and mandate of Moorelands Community Services; Implements the crisis management plan; oversees camper weeks;
  • HR experience: Trains, directs, supervises, mentors and evaluates staff and volunteers
  • Program Development: Implements, oversees and evaluates developmentally appropriate programming, updates manuals.
  • Administration: Responsible for the timely preparation and submission of required reports and other paperwork.
  • Is apositive role model and leader
  • Provides leadership to the organization’s Holiday Sharing program
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Related degree or diploma from recognized university or college or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role with an organized children’s camp or related program
  • Excellent planning, interpersonal, organizational, training, and supervisory skills.
  • Standard First Aid with CPR “C” (can be obtained after job offer)

Additional Qualifications

Please note that the following qualifications are NOT REQUIRED but will be considered an asset to your application:

  • Working knowledge of Ontario Camps Association (OCA) standards
  • National Lifeguard certification
  • Level 2 or higher High Ropes Certification
  • WFA or WFR
  • Crisis Intervention Training
