Assistant Director, Ancillary Boarding Programs

Our impact reaches beyond our academic students to large summer and seasonal programs run on multiple campuses, including our Oakville campus and the newly acquired Camp Kandalore business in Haliburton, Ontario.  Through in-camp activities, enrichment, academic, and outdoor education programs, we aim to promote highly transformative experiences for youth.

  • Develop program activities, including comprehensive and market-competitive experiential learning programs for summer boarding students
  • Develop schedules for all boarding programs in collaboration with Manager, Business Development and create custom schedules for groups
  • Ensure the daily functioning of boarding programs, including effective supervision and emergency response
  • Plan and coordinate on-site events and off-site excursions
  • Collaborate with Manager, Seasonal Staffing, and HR to recruit, train, and manage seasonal staff
  • Ensure safety, well-being, risk and crisis management protocols are established and workers are trained appropriately
  • Available on-call 24-7 for boarding life throughout the summer, based on a rotating call schedule, in case of emergencies
  • Organize airport pick-ups, drop-offs, and transportation for overseas participants in Appleby and Kandalore programs
  • Serves as a key customer resource for ancillary boarding programs queries and for international applications to Kandalore
  • Attend events Such as open homes, new parent nights, advice nights, and information fairs to promote Appleby Ancillary and Kandalore programs
  • Provide input and support in developing marketing and web-site materials and annual updates of registration systems and processes
  • Assist with managing budgets and optimizing income from all summer boarding programs



  • Experience developing and delivering exceptional boarding programs for youth or working in a leadership capacity at an overnight camp
  • Experience and training in building relationships with students and teachers
  • Excellent administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • A second language is considered an asset
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with parents and students
  • Proven collaborative skills
