Christie Lake Kids
At Christie Lake Kids (CLK), we have a long and rich history of providing economically disadvantaged children and youth with quality year-round community and camp programs to develop physical, social and character skills. Through our summer camp and the STAR (Skills Through Arts and Recreation) programs, we deliver these in a safe, encouraging and inclusive environment. Our vibrant and committed team and Board has existed for almost 100 years and continues to flourish today. At CLK, we celebrate the differences that make us all unique and strive to make our workplace accessible however we can. Even though Covid 19 has been tough on our organization, we are immensely proud of our response, having delivered a full slate of virtual programs where we have sourced, packaged and delivered materials and supplies so our kids could actively participate. When it has been deemed possible by Public Health guidelines, we have gone back to our safe, high quality, in-person programs in small groups while wearing masks and social distancing. We have maintained a hybrid of virtual programs so that we can provide as many program opportunities as possible for our kids. Equity, diversity and inclusion practices are a pillar of CLK’s services and inform all aspects of our governance and strategic planning. The CLK Board is currently seeking an Executive Director to lead our team and to be the face of the organization with the community, key partners and stakeholders.
Reporting to a strong and committed Board of Directors through the Chair, you will contribute to strategic planning and execute on operational and fundraising plans that achieve targeted results and key milestones. It will be critical in this role to build important relationships and work effectively with your team, external partners and stakeholders to achieve continued advancement of the CLK mandate. With a demonstrated record of success in leading complex, multi-constituent organizations, you will work with your dedicated team to anticipate and deliver on programs and service needs through existing and new delivery channels. You are recognized for your strength in strategic and business planning, people and financial leadership, and relationship-building. You understand a volunteer-driven organization that relies heavily on professional and efficient staff. A person of integrity, drive, discipline and influence, you will articulate the vision, refine operations, lead community relations, and align external stakeholders with the CLK’s goals and responsibilities. You are an adaptive problem-solver who will keep the CLK responsive to changing needs. A builder with business acumen, and a mentor who is passionate about shaping a positive organizational culture for our youth, and growing talent for the future, you will deliver tomorrow’s best practices in programs and services. Many of the youth in Ottawa’s community are counting on you.
The ideal candidate will have successfully led people, strategy and change in a complex, multi-stakeholder, and multi-issue environment, with a minimum of 10 years of experience, with at least 5 of those years in a management role. You have demonstrated abilities in building relationships through consensus and motivating people. Candidates will bring superior leadership expertise, along with a successful record in proactive programming, fundraising, communications, people and team development, advocacy and community relations. Experience working in the not-for-profit/NGO sector, ideally related to social services or youth, would be an asset, as would be experience in events and fundraising. You will possess excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills and will be an effective and transparent communicator in all respects, operating collegially and collaboratively at all levels.
