1-on-1 Inclusion Support Counsellor

Bayview Glen is currently looking to hire 1-on-1 Inclusion Support Counsellors for the coming Summer of 2023 to provide additional support for campers that require it. The 1-on-1 Inclusion Support Counsellor position will be responsible for the facilitation of the daily camp program for campers that require additional support within the context of the camp day and can range from 4 – 13 years of age. This position reports directly to our Unit Heads and Camp Directors.

Dates of Employment

Start Date: July 3rd, 2023 (not including pre-camp training dates)

End Date: August 18th, 2023

Location: 85 Moatfield Dr, Toronto, ON M3B, Canada

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide 1-on-1 support to individual campers that require inclusion support.
  • Have a good understanding of camper’s individual needs through conversations with unit heads, camp directors, and parents.
  • Providing their camper with prompts and additional time to transition from activity to activity.
  • Assist camper in interactions with other campers, staff, and camp specialists to ensure they are comfortable in all settings.
  • Supervising each activity period to ensure camper participation with cabin group.
  • Supervise snack and lunch time.
  • May be required to assist with toileting if needed.
  • Ensure the safety and health of camper while on-site.
  • Ensuring all Covid-19 Safety protocols and Government regulations are being followed.
  • Communicate regularly with head staff member to ensure awareness of any physical, psychological, emotional and/or medical limitations of camper that could affect their safety in the water.

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience working with youth with exceptionalities, preferably in a 1-on-1 setting.
  • Valid Early Childhood Education certificate/degree.
  • Standard First Aid Training and CPR- C or higher required.
  • Comfortable providing detailed and written incident/accident reports.
  • Preference given to those applicants with previous experience within a camp setting.
  • As a condition of employment, a current Vulnerable Sector Screening Police Check and First Aid certification will be required.
